Default working hours in australia

Hi

Can anyone help .........

I am in the process of applying for a student visa 572 ( vet ) and I know that my hours of work are 20 a week ...

My Husband is coming to OZ with me and he had been advised by our migration expert that he can work as many hours as he wants..... he has read on the migration web site that he can only work 20 hours a week also...... does anyone know if this is correct as if this is the case then it is not worth us going .....

Thanks

Shelley

Hi Shelley,

I'm going out to Oz in December for a January start at college. As far as I gather your husband if travelling on your Student Visa WILL be restricted to working a max of 20 hours per week like youself while you study. You can work more, and even full time in the holidays, but as a general rule, yes it's 20 hours max I'm afraid.

Check the DIMIA website, it's all on there:

http://www.immi.gov.au/study/working...hould_know.htm

Sorry to be the bearer of the bad, but I'd ditch that agent too if they're telling you different from what DIMIA tell you.

The only time you or your hubby are allowed to work more than 20 hrs per week when you are a student is if you are doing a Masters Degree.. if its a regular degree then yes both of you can only work 20 hrs per week during term time, but in the holidays you can work unlimited hours
