Working Holiday Visa to Australia

Hi Everyone :D

Well We have thought and thought and we want to get to OZ now, so we have looked into possibly going for a working holiday visa for 1 year, hope this is the right thing to do, We have been told that we can work whilst in OZ, however when granted our visa 176 then we will have to leave OZ and go to New Zealand.

Not sure, does anyone know of anyone or has anyone done this? Any thoughts would be great

Hope to hear soon,

Gina

I think you can't be onshore when certain types of visa are granted or applied for... Certainly for us we had to go to NZ twice, once when our application went in and then again about 10 weeks later when it was granted...

You can work, but not in a permanent job - you may only work for 6 months with each employer while on a WHV. So if you get a job, and after 6 months you still don't have your 176, you will be forced to leave that job.

In answer to the requirement to leave before the visa is granted, yep that is right: you must be "offshore" at the time of grant. So once your visa is nearing completion your case officer will let you know and will give you time to make arrangements to depart Australia.

Most people look at this as an opportunity to spend a few days in NZ.

You should leave yourself at least 3 working days (although to be safe I recommend 5) for the grant of the visas and for the visas to be issued in your passports.

Cheers :)
