Default Working holiday back to the UK. Tax help

Hi all.

Wondered if any one new the answer to this.

We arepermanent residents and will be returning to UK all being well for a visit. Hubby will also do some work there for one week.

How does the tax work. Does he pay just UK take or Australia tax to. To be honest all the money he makes will be spent in travel and hotels so should be able to put that against income but I've heard things about getting taxed twice.
Any help would be appreciated.

Strictly speaking he will need to declare all his worldwide income to the ATO.

If he pays tax in the UK then he will get a tax credit in Australia: ie he won't pay 2 lots of tax on the one income.

That would be a relief.

I have a feeling he will be taxed at source in the UK so not sure then if we will be able to claim flights and hotels against it. We need to work to get back to the UK and pay for the trip. If he gets taxed too heavily then it will be a waste of time.

Thanks for responding.
