Working conditions WA
The work places in WA are the pits but seems the handicaped get the rough end of the stick also.
A RESIDENT at WA's major care centre for spinal injuries says he has to wear a balaclava at work to keep warm because there is no heating.
Quadriplegic Eddie Small, 65, said he had complained about the cold for several years and recently put a request for heating in writing to his supervisor and to the executive director of the Paraplegic-Quadriplegic Association of WA.
He said he recently measured the temperature inside the Shenton Park factory – where he works 20 hours a week in the packaging section with 24 colleagues – claiming it was between 12C and 15C. WorkSafe WA told him the room temperature for people working at benches should be 20C to 24C.
But he says he has been told by his supervisor that resources do not stretch far enough for heating.
