Yes, of course you're allowed to wear shorts!

UK banning shorts and T-shirts, eh? Sounds like government regulation gone mad... and oh-so-terribly predictable.

True, but I think you'll find that sunscreen and hats will see you right. Long sleeves and trousers simply aren't practical for a day's bricklaying.

Actually, there was something in the paper about them banning shorts in Queensland. I think it was the guys who work on traffic control, but it could be other areas. Skin cancer was the issue, a workplace health and safety initiative.

Correct its being introduced. Some large gov employers have already introduced it, energex is one, top to toe thick, dark, material, basically only the hands and face are exposed, the face tho under a sun safety hat and sunglasses. Safety first heat or not.

No, I think they said "dress standards." World of difference.

BTW, there's a pub in Walsall which bans anyone wearing a cap, trainers, or "sportswear." Very common over here - and for the same sort of reason that certain forms of workwear are banned in certain Australian pubs.

Yes, I know it is. I didn't say it was workwear.

I said that sportswear is banned in certain UK pubs for the same reason that certain forms of workwear are banned in Aussie pubs.

The reason being, of course, that both forms of clothing are associated (whether rightly or wrongly) with trouble.

Great pic, BTW! :scared:
