Default Working With Children Check - Victoria

Found the website (before someone points me there!):

http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/wps/wc...out+the+Check/

It says you can't get one from outside Australia, so if someone is coming hoping to do voluntary work experience and has been told they will need a check.....- has anyone got one recently, and approx how long do they take to come through in Victoria?

Cheers guys,

Can't remember how long, maybe a few weeks? But when you go to the post office and pay/give them your form, they give you part of it back with a receipt that you can show to prove you've applied, so you can use it straight away........hope this helps.

It was about 3 weeks for me.

For volunteers, it's free.

Really? That's excellent, solves the problem totally - on a limited time here she didn't want to spend ages waiting for a WWC to come back before she could do anything.
Thanks heaps

The only problem is you have to have all the i.d like medicare card and I think a postal address item like a bank statement as well as the passport.

Postal address wouldn't be a problem, she'd also have passport, birth cert, Aussie police check etc, just no medicare card. Enough to do the 100 point check thing though.
