Workers 'sacrifice salary' for lifestyle
Lesson on reading Aussie Media , the low paid have to excuse poor pay levels so come up with the word lifestyle , the irony is the less you get paid in Australia the more they expect you to do.
Keeping up with the in crowd here costs and lower pay is frowned on , go any BBQ here and its how big is your house, block . car also you live where and what have you bought this week
AUSTRALIANS will settle for a lower salary if it gives them time to have a life, a workplace study finds.
A survey of more than 2000 business leaders, managers and employees found people were willing to work fewer hours for less money if it meant a better quality of life, Leadership Management Australia (LMA) said.
LMA managing director Grant Sexton said the result was part of a trend towards people taking a broader view of the role of work in their lives.
"They're looking for something that gives them satisfaction, they're not chasing the almighty dollar anywhere near as strongly as they were," Mr Sexton said

You are right with your comments on the famous "lifestyle" here but who among the future immigrants will believe it?
Lifestyle - supposed exchange for poor pay and dull career. But how do you fund a life, let alone in style, with such poor job prospects?
Whingeing - word used to stop anyone complaining about the lousy prospects and lack of "lifestyle" they were promised.
I never heard the word whingeing in England. The English are allowed to voice criticism when at home because England is a great country with a broad back and can take the knocks because it has so much to offer. Sensitive individuals, not sure of themselves, like Oz, cannot stand any criticism. Ozzies think they are onto something with this constant criticism of Brits - fact is, they are the only ones who say it, and yet they moan continuously. and would rather do that than save their own country from the downward spiral it is on.

what utter rubbish.....once again proof that everything is judged on how much cash one has!
One day you may have a lifetime experience that will make you realise that your statement has no foundation what so ever.

very familiar with the lifestyle there, just trying to point out that it need not be about money. Some of the most classy people i've met over my time have very little money.People assume having no money equals dirty squalor. That not always the case. Its a shame that people liked to be judged by how much wealth they have, not the person they are.The world is guilty of this but i feel differently. If people spent as much time concentrating on whats important in life as they do chasing the dollar or pound they may be suprised. You can live a rewarding, socially acceptable lifestyle without keeping up with the wannabes. There are quite simply more important things and its sad that its not realised more often by immigrants and natives alike.
Having said that,in the southern hemisphere the wannabe attitude is not as prevalent as in the UK,it now seems to be the foundation of everything British.......caaaaaaaaaaassssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh

This forum gets even more useless idiots by the day.
The average person has to pay rent or a mortgage, has to pay for travel, food, bills. This all takes money. You must be the most childish idiot I have ever read on here and that is some award given the general level of punters on the forum . You are still living with mum and dad?
You are making a mistake if you think I talk about careers meaning great things - I am merely talking about simple day-to-day life and not much else can be afforded in Oz anyway. You seem to think Oz is still like Robinson Crusoe's island and you can just pitch your tent and start digging. All the land has to be paid for now and then life has to be paid for. Not wannabe life, just ordinary life.
