Default work experience-Mr Lombard please advise!

I have been teaching for 9 years but work just under 20 hours per week. However, my teaching contract states that I am required to 'work any additional hours that may be required, not laid down by my employer, in order to carry out my duties effectively.' If I could get my employer to confirm that I work additional hours at home ( eg preparing, marking etc) would this be sufficient to meet the work experience criteria for th Skilled Independent category? Please help - I don't seem to be able to find out this information anywhere!!!

Hi Bimbo,

If you work under 20 hours per week that's the end of the matter. You don't
qualify. On the other hand, if you work fulltime with 20 face to face hours of
teaching, that's another matter. Where are you, and what is the industry standard
where you are?

Cheers

Hi
I actually work 3 days a week as a primary school teacher (19 hours) However, as I do work many more hours than this (ie after school and work completed at home), I think I could reasonably ask for a reference which states that I do work these additional hours, bringing the total figure to over 20 per week. There is not really a 'standard' number of hours laid down by the local authority, it is really the headteacher of an individual school who works these out. I'm really desperate to find out if there is a way round this, especially as I know that the number of hours I really work each week is nearer 30!! Is there anyone else who has had a similar problem to this?
