Also search for washing machine threads - if you have a front-loader, BRING IT!!!! I lost another shirt today to that invention my hubby calls a top-loader. Its so savage I am about to start throwing bones to it!
Personal opinion, but I would say bring all you can. You will have better things to do than to try and buy stuff, a lot of things are more expensive, and unless you know the area to which you are going, it can take you a long time to get orientated enough to find the best shops with the best deals.

As Polly says too, going out shopping for the mundane things like an ironing board, laundry basket, when you get there is a pain in the butt.
Whether furniture is cheaper in Oz or not depends on the quality of furnitire you have/intend to buy.

Our stuff is worth a lot more than the cost of shipping.
I was also quite surprised at the cost and often pooor quality of furniture and fittings in Australia.
I would hate to have to refit a house if I had to buy good quality stuff in Australia :scared:
