Wood burner fitting (Perth)
 

I came on here last winter asking what type of heating is best, i should have listened! we bought a gas heater, top of the range but i can still smell the fumes as there aren't any flues here, (it fits the gas bayonet thing) its not out of the cupboard yet.. but if i can see us needing it anytime now. I want a wood burner, seen them in Barbecue Galore but they don't fit them, and they're expensive from there. does anyone on here know of a supplier/fitter? we live in Mandurah

I want one too. Whenever I've been in someone's house who's got one they give off a really good heat and seeing the flames alone make you feel warmer :thumbsup:

I love mine and can't wait for it to get cold enough to light it. Jim jams on, glass of red wine and fluffy slippers. I do like winter :D

I've got such the perfect family room to have one and it would look so cosy. The worst part is that the old owners used to have one there but took it out when they had ducted gas heating put in. I now I'm lucky to have the heating but there are some days when the burner would be enough, plus we've got loads of trees in our garden that are always shedding branches or totally falling down and we have a massive wood store out the back already. We can't afford a new one though and trying to talk hubby into buying a second hand one is a pain as he assumes that there is something wrong with them if someone is selling them :huh:

Ive lit mine today as Im about to start a big load of ironing and its a bit dull outside.Its one of the best things we bought when we came here.x

We got ours from Hearth House and paid 1,700 dollars including fitting.My husband said it was worth every cent to not hearing me winge about the cold.We will be here two years in August and got it last April.

Hiya all

May I ask please, Are you allowed a wood burner anywhere in Oz? Or are certain places 'smoke free' like in the UK? Do they cause a lot of smoke outside?
I would really like one in my new house as there isnt any gas. I'm south-west Sydney btw.

you have to check with your local council as they aren't allowed in some areas.

I'd like one - I love the smell.

thanks for the help! your reply's have confirmed it for me, I was always cold back in Blighty with central heating and double glazing! so can you imagine what i will be like in a couple of months!! :ohmy:
