+1

One of the things we like about where we are is that you have several options to get into town, depending on traffic conditions on any particular day.

Yes Kaye you have several options:

Of course the train which from what I have seen is reliable (as I am often stuck at the Kooyoung level crossing:p
  • Monash
  • South Eastern Freeway (carpark:sneaky:)
  • Burwood (including tram but thats a long trip on a tram I would expect)
  • High Street
  • Waverley Road
  • Ferntree Gully/Princes highway
  • North Road cutting back into neapean
Plenty of east to west (suburb to city) travel options is the point above.

All, possible move for a job in St Kilda (top end) that we are looking at and just weighing up costs of housing etc to ensure it all adds up

I dont ideally want to commute more than 1 hour by any method of travel, (personal car, train, bus, walk) and I prefer more modern houses with 4 beds and a garden the kids can play in and I dont want to pay more than 650 a week.

Would Keilor East or Heidleburg heights fall into the one hour commute or they too far out in rush hour ?

Any other comments on the locations welcome

Thanks

Have you checked out McKinnon? Superb secondary school, but prices are rising because of this. Also it's just round the corner form St Kilda, but the roads can get very busy during rush hours depending on where exactly you're working.

Good luck :)

I hadnt, I did and it looks on the pricey side for anything with a reasonable garden and 4 beds. Nice all the same, thanks

Completely agree with the comments about punt - absolute nightmare and you can't really avoid it going from st kilda to hh. We live in st kilda and my other half works in hh - he says that his journey is about 45 minutes but that's when he leaves pre 7am. Punt road is just frustrating even on Saturdays let alone rush hour! We love living in st kilda but it's not for everyone - also love the eastern suburbs abit further out too. If your work is anywhere near a train station then living somewhere on the same train line would be really handy - trains are pretty frequent in my opinion! Good luck!!

 Vermont is nice - its a bit further out than where we are but still commutable. Its where Neighbours is filmed! (Not sure if that makes it better or worse ).

All the best for the interview - hope it works out for you.
