Default winter weather in Sydney & Brisbane

We are travelling to Sydney and Brisbane in August. It is our first trip to Oz and we want to minimise packing. Any ideas on what sort of temperatures and weather we can expect in these 2 areas ?

regards Tinaj

The Bureau of Meteorology site has all the information you need:

http://www.bom.gov.au/

For temperature and rainfall averages, go directly to:

If you're staying near the coast expect it to be quite mild. Inland of Sydney there
can be frosts overnight, if you want to go to the Blue Mountains west of Sydney you
could even see some snow. Generally you will get away with reasonably light clothing,
even though it's winter, though when the westerlies blow in August in Sydney there is
often a chill factor, you'd notice this in exposed areas such as the harbour.

For clothing, think of packing layered clothes. I will be in Sydney in August also.
It will be my forth trip. This trip I will be packing shorts, one pair of pants, 2
polo shirts, 3 T-shirts, a wind-breaker and jogging pants. The day time is usually
comfortable for shirt, shorts & wind-breaker
- if it's not overly windy nor raining. Otherwise I slip on the jogging pants for
added warmed. The nights I always use the jogging pants or slip into my pants.

Just to give you a frame of reference, I wear shorts/T-shirt comfortably in
mid-sixty(F) temperatures.
