Will our fax machine work in Oz

Hi Everyone,

Getting things organised for the shippers and was wondering if our fax machine will work in Oz?

Cheers.

Ours didn't. Our UK DECT phones are fine though.

Only if you plug it in will it work. ;)
Sell the TV and VCR (unless it is a new multi system with B/G PAL)
keep the fax, there is really only one standard for that. :)

I use my Lexmark all in one printer job through the computer as a fax and it works great.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I phoned our shipping company, PSS, and they think that our fax machine will work in Australia.

I then phoned Brother, the maker of our fax machine, and they said that it might work in Australia but it might not, couldn't confirm either way as they don't make the machines to work anywhere else except in UK.

We have decided to take the machine and see how we go. Will let you all know once we get our shipment on the other side.

Cheers.

Ours is a Sanyo. I contacted Sanyo before we left the UK and they said it should work anywhere in the world. Initially it wouldn't work but after about a year I was talking to a telephone engineer who told me there are different dial ? tones here and that I should " flick the switch " on it to make it compatible here. Not being very technical I didn't know there was a switch until we looked at it thoroughly and hey presto ! there was the switch on the side of the machine. We have had no trouble ever since so it is worth looking at your machine or contact the manufacturers.

Mine is an ancient 'Brother' and I brought it with me. Yes, it does work, I just sent one only a couple hours ago!

So I suggest you bring it, anyway...

Cheers
Anya.

The wall socket is different but the little clear plug on the end of the fax cable (RJ6) will just plug into an adapter you can buy at most places. it has a little press to release to remove it from teh current adaptor. RJ6 is almost a world standard, so other countries Oz etc can just add the adaptor
