Default Will my satellite receiver and dish work?

I currently have a sky receiver and dish in the uk which we get Sky on.

Will it work in Oz and if not what do they use to get satellite TV?

Are there any decent satellite programmes out there, most people have said they are rubbish. Is there any chance we could pick up Sky?

No, your sky decoder and dish won't work. There are a couple of satellite packages in oz, so it's a new dish and decoder. Most of the channels are the same. You can visit :

http://aol.yourtv.com.au/guide/

Click on the pull down tabs to see the different packages.

Steve.

No need to stuff the satelite dish in the flight bag, we connected with austar (pay tv and the dish is free) I suppose at about $100 a month it must pay for itself pretty quickly.

Pay TV is great for world news essential actually, but most of the rest is stuff like on the Buses! Golden Girls!!! Married with chilfren type stuff and lots of kids shows. If you are going to the Sunshine Coast get a Brisbane TV antenna, it will save you going insane with the local people who make their own ads with their relatives. It has to be seen to be believed. Somebody should tape those ads and show them in the Uk.

The dishes and boxes here are UK made gear but I fear your stuff would not work here , most of the better TV programs are Brit made and on UK TV channel , just get the basic package and ask around or use the internet to get a iffy smart card to get all the channels.
