Will my Buffy DVDs work in Oz??
 

Forgive the sad attention to detail question - its pouring down outside, I don't want to walk the dog or do housework so I'm sat here thinking about inane things!
Anyway to get to the point, we will buy a new TV once in Oz but will all of our existing DVDs work, as we have built up quite a collection, with the childrens films, OH's collection of Tour de France cycling, and my precious Buffy collection - where would I be with no repeats of Buffy & co to watch;)
On the same subject will our DVD player work with an Oz TV, its pretty crap anyway but if it would work we may as well take it to minimise the amount of stuff we would have to buy new once over
By the way I read another thread this morning about a family moving over with a budget of over $1 million:eek: God, I wish! wouldn't have to worry about much, would you?

good luck on your move.well the answer to your question is yes ,no and sometimes.
Yes: they will work but once you have a new dvd player look on the internet and get a code to make it a multi region player,then you can play any dvd.
No:if you don't do the above
Sometimes:we have played some Oz dvd's on our uk player and others won't work.we also have a Australian region dvd player and the same thing happens.

So i would say you shouldn't have a worry with the dvd's. i bought over 100+ from the uk and have n't had a problem

DVD's are sold throughout the world in regions which was an attept to reduce piracy and control distribuition etc.

Most DVD players sold in Australia now are multi-region and will play DVD's from all over the world. Provided you get a muli-region DVD player they will work exactly as they do in the UK!

When we bought our DVD player over here we took a UK DVD in the shop with us and asked them to try it, it played no problem on the Samsung DVD player/recorder we bought.

Knew I wasn't alone!! Its bad enough that its all finished, let alone the risk I can't sit through them all again but I can relax now as it sounds like it will be no problem:)
Are you also an Angel fan? Haven't watched all of them so maybe I'll stock up for when I'm really bored of Aussie TV!

Thanks we should be off around September time.
I have all of Buffy and Angel box sets.
I think i have watched once more with feeling that many times in know all the songs.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
If you look in the thread "show us your Tatts" you can see i have a largeish tattoo at the bottom of my back which is the Buffy Heart and fire behind the Angel wings.
Let me know what you think.

Blimey - that's what I call dedication!!
Not ever fancied a tattoo myself although I can see that some of them look great, but not that piccie of someone having the skin stripped off, I'm sorry but that looked gross. My brother had a lot of tattoos done in his punk days and has since spent a small fortune having them lasered away, he had a huge rat on one arm, I remember being fascinated by it when I was about 15.
Back to Buffy, yes I also like the musical episode, not sure which was my favourite as I have a few.

No I could never choose a favorite. The scariest for me(Buffy) are the one with der kinderstot with the thing coming out of its eyes and the one with the gentlemen they give me the creeps. I do really love watching the Angel episode where he turns human i think its called I remember you. I could not leave my Buffy & Angel dvds behind i do my ironing and watch them its the only way i get through it.

And yes the scarring in that thread is very strange but the creative aspect of it and the effect is good but gross at the same time. Each to their own i suppose, its different thats for sure.

I have shipped an old video player just in case, as all my Buffy except the last two seasons are on video!!!!!

Is that the Angel episode where Buffy visits him and he is normal but has to change back to get his powers and she can't remember anything about it? That was a good one. There were quite a few with Faith that were quite memorable, like the one where she thinks she's changed Angel back again but it was just a trick.

OH has never watched it and I don't have any friends who like it so my only release is through the internet - how sad is that?
Very sad but enough of that - do you reckon the whole Angel series is worth getting, I've only got 1 & 2 and saw 3 and some of 4, could help to pass a cold dark in Oz, I suppose (Only problem is I have to hide them as OH does not I've brought them, he'd go nuts:sneaky:)
