We were visiting Wollongong last weekend. Kiama, Shellharbour, Albion Park with a view to moving down that way eventually. So you recommend it then?
In your honest opinion - how does it compare to Brissy? (if you've ever been there)
thanx

I love Kiama...did you look in Gerringong or Berry too? They're beautiful.
We are currently in the process of house buying too. Want to stay in the Figtree area as I love it and its close to the Uni. Getting bored house hunting though

I'm not sure I will ever be able to buy up this way though. Way to expensive. We have a cheap rental though, maybe we will stay here forever and sod owning property again
Would love to meet up. The hubby has exactly the same taste in music as you lot, but he is an opinionated sod, so be warned

If you don't know who this guy is.....imagine Freddie Mercury but better and with decent rock music.
RIP Bon
I know, I'm stuck in an 80's time warp and Oz is perfect for that.

His night of heavy drinking......then left to sleep off his drunken state in a mates car in freezing cold night in south London in January ............some mate.
He was a bit of a tortured soul being away from his wife while touring......evident in the words of Love Hungry Many which I listened to this morning.
enough.

Some good news on this......for those rock fans.........
AC/DC frontman's grave to get new plaque
The National Trust of Australia (NTA) plans to replace a plaque honouring former AC/DC frontman Bon Scott that was stolen from Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia at the weekend.
It has taken 26 years for the gravesite of the late rocker to be listed as a heritage and cultural icon and only five months for the plaque to be stolen.
NTA spokesman Carl Haynes says it is WA's first contemporary listing and needs a plaque.
"We're talking to the cemeteries so in the very near future we'll arrange for them a replacement," he said.
But Doug Thorncroft, from the WA Bon Scott Fan Club, says that is little comfort for the AC/DC fans who made the discovery on what would have been Bon Scott's 60th birthday.
"We didn't notice it at first because there was a pile of love rocks on top of where it should have been, and then we moved them and noticed it was gone," he said.
"Everyone was at first disappointed but then a little bit agro."
Mr Thorncroft says he cannot imagine who would do such a thing.
"It may be somebody that was, who had just a little bit too much to drink on the Saturday night and thought they'd get a souvenir, maybe they're a big fan or it could be somebody with a grudge," he said.
"But yes, it's just so hard to work out who would do such a stupid thing."
The theft has been reported to police.

I'll have a few beers with anyone who likes a bit of decent rock music ..
........that's one of many things this area has which is far better than the UK....radio stations that play classic music from old and new eras and not wall to wall rap crap or boy band ballads.......I can now hear far more varied music on the radio than when I was in Sussex.......

YES
The Who
Led Zep
Police
Pretenders
Jam
Blondie
Queen
Rainbow
Hendrix
Billy Joel
Neil Diamond
................plenty of good local groups
there are far more to name I can't recall now....

I am finding salvation in having given up British commercial radio, and simply putting my ipod on random in the car. Get all the best music, none of the syndicated pap / mindless DJs we get here these days. When was the last time you heard a DJ make a constructive comment about a song.. nope.. everything is 'Wicked new single from xxxx" or "Here's the latest brilliant song from xxxx"
I cant wait to get to Melbourne and frequent a country that plays decent music on it's radio stations.

Come to think of it it must be.........I followed a MkII Ford Escort RS2000 to work today.........not much rust on it but my god......my mate drove one of these when we was 19 and that is a LONG time ago and it wasn't new back then.
No doubt I'll see someone walk around with white socks on soon sporting a Limahl haircut.............WHY do so many Ozzies here think it cool to have a mullet or stupid little pony tail ????...........each to their own I suppose !!
