Why Australia will never become a first world country

Thanks for the picture of the species named 'CHAVS' they look harmless enough but will keep a lookout for them. Crikey, I have a tracksuit, trainers and baseball cap.

Keep reeling 'em in, Grayling.
NSWP, I have no experience of cruising but my in-laws take a lot of cruises and informed me P&O now has a bit of a reputation for younger/rowdy crowds. You might just find you get an education.

For a Third World country, Australia is not doing too badly, even seemed to avoid the worst of the GFC. Beginner's luck I guess.

Third World Australia where wages are almost double those in First World Britain, people live longer, unemployment is lower etc, etc, etc.

I have no doubt some earn double the money but a sweeping generalization to make it sound as though it is across the board though which clearly isn't factual. The reality is that the high wages are creating a casual, part time workforce because employers can't continue to foot the bill. Yes indeed the reported unemployment figure is indeed lower

Melbourne must be different if you haven't come up against this: the Woolworths checkout girl, the estate agent, the guy you talk to in the street, the partner you have at the golf club: you are always being told that Australia is best at everything and the best place to live on the planet.
I am frankly amazed that you haven't had this pushed in your face over and over again.
Back in the eighties there was a TV campaign which tried to make everyone think "Aussie Aussie Aussie" - it made my toes curl at the time but it obviously worked!

Although it takes the form that there is no greater place than Queensland then Australia.
