Why Australia?
Was Australia your first choice? Why?
Why didn't you go for Canada or New Zealand or the United States or even South Africa or Spain?

why not!
Even though the accent used to grate on me, I got used to it and even got one myself. Of course 6 years of being back in England has got rid of most of it but it still creeps up on me whenever I speak to Australians (makes my colleagues laugh their heads off to hear me saying 'youse' and 'mate')
