Plenty of Border Collies & Labs in Australia, particularly Borders as they are popular for obedience & agility (here in the eastern states anyway).
The other dog you are probably referring to as working dogs in the back of utes are probaly Kelpies or Australian Cattle Dogs (blue heelers). The first make an exceptionally great pet as long as you can keep them from boredom (very similar to Border Collies). The second IMO arent as good, more likely to bite & nip & be aggressive than a Border or Kelpie, especially with young children. They also need to be kept entertained & exercised regularly, like any working dog.

Yep. Keep the puppies to the designated area please. (And the horseys too!)
People (ok not everyone... I know there are lots of responsible people out there) ofter "forget" to pick up after thier pets.
Better on the dog beach than on the people beach!
Our puppy LOVES the beach and in fact I can't even say the word without her ears perking up and longing glances toward the car happening.
It's good for them to learn to get along with other dogs too. When there are a hundred around... it's kinda hard to get excited about just one.
I think it's great that Perth has designated areas specifically for your pets to enjoy the beach and ocean too!
