What did you peeps out there in the land of Aus. do about travel insurance.??

I'm sure someone mentioned that they got insurance in the UK and it covered them on their travels and also for about 17 days when they got there.. just enough time to sort out some local company...!!!


We don't need anything fancy just cover for our clothes and camera/laptop etc..

If you dive you can get Padi world wide insurance or Buddy. We were not as impressed with buddy as when we claimed for camera that fell of mountain on Frazer Island they said we should have reported at police station...wrote snotty letter saying it was an accident caused by someone else bumping us and not crime and what a waste of police time so they did cough up in the end.

I think you have to be careful with this if an Aussie PR. We have taken some out to cover our trip round South America, but as soon as we land in Oz as residents the insurance isnt valid anymore...so double check to see if you actually have cover for those first few days in Oz.
