That Perth in Oz gets more than my home town Edinburgh in rainy scotland? and our first winter here we keep asking ourselves "who said it doesnt rain in Australia?" and "theres a water shortage here?"

* Perth, Australia on average is warmer than Edinburgh, United Kingdom by 13°C.

* Edinburgh, United Kingdom on average is cooler than Perth, Australia by 8°C.

* Perth, Australia averages more precipitation than Edinburgh, United Kingdom by 112mm.

The rain is Perth falls mainly during the Winter months whereas in Scotland if probably falls all year round. Perth is very dry in summer generally and they can get a whole month with temperatures over 35 degrees with very little rain.

There are some places such as Darwin which get absolutely bucketloads of rain but it all falls in the wet season usually late afternoon and night. When it rains it is a downpour not a drizzle so the quantity is much higher.

It can drizzle for days on end but the total quantity would still be less than a 10 minute tropical downpour.
