My TRA application is 3 weeks and counting. and I am getting a little worried that I may not have written enough for my Job description. (Electronic Equipment Tradesperson)
I read yesterday that somebody wrote 15 pages!. Mine is more like 2, though I did put in some City and Guilds certs.

Anybody else on the TRA bit?

Brian.

I will post my TRA application coming Monday. You have no idea how excited I am (well, actually most of you have a good idea I guess...) It took me bloody 7 month to get it all together. I think I actally overkilled it - have some sort of 53 pages on No7/experience (but also 6 different employers, Chef)
I am so so so happy once I can leave this all behind me - my whle life is "on hold". But Jonah, you're right, I'll forget about in the next weeks and will go out there and enjoy Sydney. If things don't work out I can say at least I had a good time (sniff..) Good luck ya'all!

We are 2 weeks in and counting, getting nervous now, have been told 8-10 weeks so just keeping the old fingers crossed. I have also heard that electricians are to be put on the MODL, for any sparkies out there waiting.

Best of luck to you all.

Simon
I've heard that electricians are to be put on MODL too, i'm the girlfriend of a sparkie who is applying, but of course he's to busy working so i'm doing this. He is also waiting for it to come through, should be July, hopefully.

So good luck to you to.

To all you Sparkies...
Am I worthy. I did pass City & Guilds 236 part 1 (15th edition), before specialising in Electronics 224 for 4 years. Does that qualify me to be a minor spark.....

Brian.
Well I did C&G 236 part one 16th edition, and then specialised in alarms and did the C&G 185. I applied to the TRA for skill assessment a couple of months ago. The thing is, I have never actually used my 236 before so I was a little shocked to find out that I don’t actually have the 236 qualification due to a cock up at the college (they never submitted the course work) I now don’t have any confidence in the British education system. I do have a full 185 so I am hoping this gets me through but I am not holding my breath. Will let you know when I hear.

did you do an apprenticeship or did you complete a course with assessement.
that will decide the outcome, not the qualifacation.
Four years experience without a apprenticeship even with C&G will fail the TRA.

I'm expecting it to fail, but I had already paid the agent so we put it in. I referenced 8 years total experience as a spark with 3 years as an apprentice, and stat decs for another 3 or so that I cant prove as the guy I worked for died, and his wife moved to Cyprus. This is my only realistic chance I have to get in, so it may be all over in a month or so.
