Default Who took what?

Ok then guys, house sale is going well now looking around the house and trying to decide what to take over with us.

We are thinking of taking our 4 seater sofa and 2 arm chairs as they new and our bed.

So would people recommend taking white goods and bedroom furniture?

Cheers all

We took everything except for the white goods, as everything is very expensive here, if you do search you can find a lot of threads on this subject.

Take every single thing and I mean every single thing whatever be the quality. You won't regret it. We did just that and really glad we did.

Edit: We also used Percival Letton for our insurance - they were by far the cheapest and again very good service.

I suppose it might also be true to say that the more familiar items you have around you the less likely you are to be homesick about sentimental aspects of your possessions.

I suppose it does hold true. More than that it is just that it makes life a hell of a lot easier and settling down that much quicker. Plus you save a LOT of money and time - don't make the mistake of underestimating that. I know many have arrived only with a suitcase and some cash but I wouldn't advise that at all.

This is just my personal experience having done both. First arrived with just our suitcases and setting up home from scratch albeit on a small scale (but plenty of family support). Then hubby joined us 18 months later and all our stuff was finally shipped out. We now have a fridge, washing machine, microwave, sofa-bed etc sitting in our garage which I have to get rid off soon!

If you're bring anything, bring it all.

Even (especially) white goods.

Everything, remember your books. My cook books are in the loft in the UK
Things you think you'll just replace (saucepans etc) cost a small fortune here

So in a similar position, but not expecting to leave UK until next April.

My washer / dryer is very old and I'm surprised it's still working. Buy a new one here now and ship or wait and buy new on arrival?

Also, we will be moving into a short term rental when sale goes through - would you send the furniture in advance?

Thanks
