Telstra engineers have restored Bigpond broadband internet services on Australia's east coast, the company said in a statement today.
Problems with the telco's ADSL and cable services began at 1.15pm (AEST), Telstra said.
The company said engineers had to reboot equipment in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in order to get the system restored as soon as possible.
A Bigpond spokesman later said all ADSL and cable services had been restored and customers should not experience troubles when logging in or surfing the internet.

Yesterday I couldn't get internet for a couple of hours. Was a bit pi**ed off. But It did come back.

I thought most other providers (optus, dodo etc) just piggy backed off Telstras service. So if Telstra was fubar, how come Optus (i.e. my connection) was ok?
Or have they unlinked themselves?

If it was a line fault, then it would all go down, so it must be just Telstra Broadband System. Maybe their computer went down

The internet was down for about three hours at work yesterday; it was most distressing.
