Who says Australia is expensive!
Just had our 6mth rate notice for our 4 bed with pool on 3111sq m and it comes to $538.19 which even at the current exchange rate can not be considered expensive.
I put about $40.00 in every time I fill up my 1.6l hatchback which still makes me smile.
If you don't mind Japanese then some vehicles are extremely good value new.
The list goes on and on

My rates in the UK, five and half years ago, were one hundred and thirty quid a month. You only paid 10 months of the year and got two months 'free'. Just looked at what they are now and it would be two hundred and sixty one pounds a month... it really is just soooo cheap in the UK. !!

Heating during the chilly time of around 6weeks here is even cheaper. Tree fellers kindly leave their unwanted timber in nicely proportioned pieces in a local layby and you can put it in the the back of your cheap brand new Japanese SUV (not Murano, bit pricy for us) and take it home and chop it into smaller pieces.
Heating bill for year $0.00
Bit premature on that one as my wife has just pointed out we have nearly run out and we bought 3 bags last year so call it $30.00

Yeah about the same as ours here in Brisbane plus of course water rates and usage charge is now separate so that's another few 100. I don't think anyone has EVER said Australia is more expensive for everything.

Just pisses me off that we get rates and electric at the same time. I really ought to get into the habit of paying them some each month but haven't. Also got my car tax this month and I've not worked for a month. Do these companies take cat hair, we have a fair amount of that.

Yeah we tend to get the electric and the rates at the same time, about $5-600 each per quarter. Then one of the cars needs registering, another $5-800 depending on which one, then the water which has gone through the roof this year even though they promised it wouldn't

Odd - my kawasaki has a 17lt tank and it costs me about $25 to fill up (98RON). I only get 210km out of it!
Perhaps I need to ease back on the revs a little and try riding at less than 8,000rpm all the time? (No chance - its just waaaay too much fun )
