Towards the end of last year he had physio for ITB (I can't remember what it stood for but it was a knee problem) and he now having trouble with the same knee but he says it is different. His training hasn't gone too well either due to a fortnight off in early January recovering from a delicate operation (I told him he was for the chop as you have to pay for contraception in Australia and three kids are expensive enough to 'transport' to the other side of the world!) And then he had the obligatory skiing trip with the boys too! I was going to say he's just getting old but I note that he is the same age as you.

I think I should rename this thread "The Itch Clinic" - getting lots of worried clients!

BTW, want an extra mother in law? (Only kidding!)

Sounds like an injury I once had, hell of a pain on the outside of the knee. I seem to remember its the tendon that runs down the outside of the thigh and is attached at the knee, a simple stretch sorted it out for me. Can't help with the trouble hes having with the same knee as you don't say exactly what the trouble is. Could be a stretching problem but more likely his shoes. Not teaching him to suck eggs but are they the correct ones for his running gait (pronator, supinator etc.) and how old are they? A specialist running shop would be my first port of call before the Drs. Also if he's done anything over 300 miles in them then its time to change in my book.

As for the MIL offer - no thanks!! 3 is enough for anyone

Thanks for taking the time to reply Doctor! You're right about the stretching remedy for the ITB but I can't explain more about his current injury as he hasn't told me any more than that which I have already told you! His most recent shoes are from a specialist shop and he's probably done about 100 miles in them (wanted to make sure they were 'run in' for the marathon) so we've reached a dead end really.

Bet you haven't had a Greek mother in law before?! Still time to change your mind!

Clinic now closed. Beauty sleep required or the seven year itch non-event may come back to haunt me! :scared:

Strange, at a bit of a loss really. Only other thing - has he increased his mileage a lot over the past week (to make up for lost training) - this can sometimes lead to injury. Only other thing is he could have done it skiing, or falling off a bench whilst intoxicated (long story!!!). Only thing I can suggest is Ibuprofen and a few days off, sounds like his shoes should be OK, but he'll need another pair before the marathon.

A Cockney MIL is experience enough. I work with Greeks at the moment and they are a STRANGE bunch!!!

Anyway the sounds like a good idea. Ciao for now

It's just a coincedence that I left the UK 7 years after getting married, and didn't bring the (first) wife with me

Now what was I doing 7 years into my 2nd marriage ? Ahh Yes, now I remember

Known the 'ol gal for 30 years - married for 24.

No one told me anything about no itch.

Phoned her up on Valentines day and booked our first date. She thought that was really romantic.

Didn't tell her until months after that I didn't even know it was Valentines
