House always sell at the right price. Cannot believe the greed in the UK when it comes to houses and prices, reason enough to leave on its own.

Why would someone in their right mind by an average house in the UK when its 6-8 times their annual salary, when historically its been 3-4 times?

Get real people!

Valuation / survey guys came in to day, all very straight forward and in order, no surprises they said, all standard, sounds good

The buyer wants to come in next week to measure up for furniture and is pushing for a completion date Although we could do without pushing too hard as we still need to find a rental for 6 months !

So hopefully another stage passed today

Excellent! Better to rent for 6 months than not being able to sell.

Things were not so straight forward yesterday, really starting to feel the pressure / stress.

For a 10 minute period yesterday afternoon it looked like the house was back on the market and the offer was gone

The problem is our buyer is under lots of pressure to get out of their property by 8th August otherwise the offer they have received on their propertly will be withdrawn and the chain broken, they can basically already exchange as their deal was struck some time ago.

Bascially the people buying our house are saying they want to be in our house more or less at the same time we exchange, which is set for around the 8th August !!

We have explained that we are not prepared to start moving our things out and sign a lease on another property until the exchange has been completed !

To be honest I really cannot see the contracts being drawn up by the 8th August, I think they are living in another world.

But we shall see.

Ohh Jon, stressful times indeed, I shall keep all crossed for you!

Well we have only 7 more sleeps Our last weekend looms and some difficult goodbyes

We are all so very excited and lots of mixed emotions! We are camping out in our house, nothing left but a borrowed TV, blow up beds and some bits and bats. The old sofa goes today and table and chairs (Pass it on coming to pick it up as cannot fit it in any other day) so we shall be sat on our bums! Neighbors been great and family and friends. Washing and drying clothes has been interesting! Miss the mod cons, especially as its school holidays with 2 boys!

We travel down to Heathrow on Tuesday, over night stay at the Holiday Inn and fly out on Wednesday (week today!!!!)

To get to London we have hired an estate car for the one day! Much cheaper than Train, plane or taxi etc, £68. We are dropping it at Heathrow Airport and then we get the shuttle to the hotel back which is a stones throw away. Easy. Just thought I would share for those wondering how to get to London and live far away.

Good luck everyone!

Totally agree - just because a house may have achieved a certain price a while ago, doesn't mean it should today. The value of a house is the amount the buyer pays for it, not what the seller wants or thinks it's worth.

Morning all ! Just returned from our hols and YES we have a SOLD sign - as you see from my Avatar - sold sign has been my holy grail!! (lets hope it stays that way!!!) Hoping to move out to QLD beginning of Nov!
Spoke to solicitors - I am trying to get a 12 week completion !?! That way we could just leave our house and get shipped from here! Hope the buyer is up for it but not wanting this to jeopardise a sale though - Just don't fancy moving from here, and into short term let until Nov and having to move twice! So here's hoping for a nice amble to the completion deadline end of Oct (I wish)
Good luck to everyone
