wheres the most work for plasterers?

me and my family have been on the visa trail for about 6 years now (for various reasons), and have noticed that the jobs in construction -specifically plastering - appear to be getting few and far between. I know the job is different over in aus to what it is here in the uk, but have noticed more and more posts about tradies finding it harder to get work than say 3 or 4 years ago.
what have been migrants experience of this?
we were going to head to brisbane, but have decided on adelaide as thats where my hubbys family are (QLD will be plan B if adelaide doesnt work out) - but not seen much positive stuff about construction work in general ...

anyone have any adivce/tips/guidance/job offers??

cheers,
sue x

Hi, My best mate and family has just come over and her OH is a plasterer and now working as a plasterer. All we did with him is take him to the local front bar on a Friday around 3pm and got him introduced to a few of the local tradies. On the Monday he started work and is really enjoying himself, we found somtimes it was "who you know" dont know if that helps but worth bearing in mind! Good luck though

Gary, linloo and uk-2-oz, thank you very much for your replies!!!

linloo, would your friends hubby be willing to have a chat with my oh when we get over there?? (in the new year) ... oh is 45 so worried about having to go trawling for work, so any tips would be more than gratefully received :D

Hard question but how long would it take your hubby to do about 600 sqm's? including a fixing plaster board sheets.

There are at least 6,000 homes going to be built along the Northern and Western edges of Melbourne, in the next couple of years.
