Where are you planning on going and why?
Just thought this may be interesting to catch up on where everyone is looking at going and why
Im 23, and oh is 25 and we have our first lo on the way, we are hoping to emigrate and rent over there, as soon as finances allow, but probably in 4 years time as we'd like another lo first.
Im thinking of Queensland and NSW, mainly because of the weather and just bits I have read here and there. Main priority is the weather, and somewhere where oh can get an Engineering job.
Id like to go go near the coast, but where I can walk to near by shops etc. so I dont feel too isolated.
Keep you posted on any suitable places I find!

We are heading to Brisbane as the OH has family there and we both loved it when we were there in the summer. Good luck with your plans.

We are looking at Adelaide, Hobart and Mildura (Victoria). At the moment there are the only places we could afford. (Housing wise)
Although in the first instance we do want to get a feel for places...watch this space...we'll end up in Darwin!

Hi
We are heading to Brisbane. OH 40, me 35 three children 11,9,5. We chose Bridbane first then got job. Reason for Brisbane, I have Uncle there and both my cousins and their families also have all of my great aunts family living in Grafton (south of Brisbane on the way to Sydney) and in Sydney. We visited 11 years ago for my cousins wedding and fell in love with the place. Looked into emigrating 4 years ago but not enough points, job not on MODL list. OH started recruiting from Oz and found a job by chance and the rest is history.

There are still plenty of houses and bargains to be had (no I wont tell you where they are I'm keeping that bit to myself) but it does help if there are 2 incomes rather than just one. We know some single peeps here and they don't seem to have had trouble getting mortgages and buying a place to live (and there not working on mines etc).
If your single with no kids then you don't have to worry about things like schools unlike us married with kid(s) folk.

Hmm, ok, to much info about the curry and toilet thing!!!
I think Im expecting too much out of emigrating - I want the warm weather - but with a sea breeze, as dont like the humidity - but want to be in a place where I wont get bored, and where oh doesnt have to commute too far to work.
And now Im annoyed as Ive been hearing alot about the wet weather in Qld!! And the places in NSW Ive lresearched dont quite fit the bill - so am taking a break from researching area's!
And will just read the post and see where you all end up!

We're off to Perth because we were just drawn to it when we visited last May. My husband's company have an office out there and they are sponsoring him. We reached a crossroads in the UK and then the opportunity to come to Oz arose.
A lot of people say they don't like the remoteness of Perth and that there is nothing to do, but that isn't putting us off
