Where would you buy a mattress from?

Where would you buy a mattress from?
Unbelievable, but true. We managed to find long term rent from abroad A bit crazy, I know, but we feel it's worth the risk (done my homework well though). Anyway, this is not the scope of this thread.
So, its unfurnished. That's OK, the container, hopefully will arrive a few days/weeks after so it should not be a big deal, as many of you have experienced.
The first and most important thing....MATTRESSES!
We have found these shops....would you use any of them?
1. Harvey Norman
2. Ikea
3. Fantastic furniture
4. Super Amart
5. The Mattress place in Victoria Point QLD
6. The Mattress factory in Cleveland
7. Beds R Us
8. Sleep City
9. Other??
Ideally, I'll try to organize a delivery for the day we will arrive (or maybe the day after). Some of them actually do deliver for free
As a backup plan, I have a motel booked for a few days
So, what's your say guys? Did you buy any from the above and if so what's your opinion? Never shopped there before, so I have no idea
Cheers!

Re: Where would you buy a mattress from?
We got our mattress from Fantastic Furniture & have no complaints so far. We bought the kids beds/mattresses from there & we're also getting new dining chairs from them. The only thing I wouldn't buy from there is sofas. It would be nice if our mattress wasn't still on the floor mind you, our bed frame is in the container. We've been here 8 weeks now & still don't have our stuff which we had hoped to have within a week or so of us arriving, so don't rely to much on your container being here at the beginning.

Hi
Ikea in my opinion is the best place for mattresses, they are so comfortable.

We used Super A Mart as they did a good range, from budget to luxury. We could have had next day delivery although we didn't need it.
You will be very tired & have loads to sort out in the first few days, so why not check-in to a hotel for just a couple of days to give yourselves breathing space?

Re: Where would you buy a mattress from?
Thanks guys for your info! Yes, in fact we will be staying in a motel for the first few days. It's double booking (long term and short) but at least it will gives us a few relaxing hassle free days to rest etc.
Unfortunately, my wife has had back problems since we had our little one, so a good mattress is a must!
Thanks again!
Cheers

Re: Where would you buy a mattress from?
Last place I bought a mattress from was Forty Winks, and they were pretty good. There is one in Capalaba.
But I have also heard good reports about The Mattress Place in Victoria Point.
To be honest though, it is case of trying out the brands, till you find one you like, and then playing all suppliers against each other on price.
I would happily buy from any of the ones you listed, if the price was right.

Re: Where would you buy a mattress from?
Personally, i wouldn't buy any mattress without trying out a load first. Not something to be bought without trying imo especially if your wife has back problems. We also found they are expensive here - good ones are 3k+ on discount!!! (king size).
As mentioned before, get an airbed - you'll need it for camping or guests further down the line - and take your time and make the right decision, remeber we spend about 1/3 of our lives asleep
