where to live in Victoria ?
Hi everybody. We have been state nominated by Victoria we are looking to move to anywhere in port philip bay area, near the coast in October, but do not know where to go. I am a maintenace fitter, my wife is a manager in the NHS. We have a six year old son so schools are imporant. We have looked at Geelong and Mornington any tips on employment, places to live and good schools would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi Steve,
Never been to OZ but geelong has had a good press on this forum. Try the search box toward the top right of the screen and enter a place name and hopefully it will find some info.
Oh, and welcome to the forum

Hi steve, you have about 200 kim of coastline to choose from round Port Phillip Bay. What sort of environment are you looking for? Do you need to be commuting distance from Melbourne? Do you want to be in a seaside resort, inland, mainly residential area, etc.
Mornington Peninsula has some beautiful towns around the bayside coastal fringe. A lot of Melburnians have holiday homes around the coast so the main seaside towns can get very busy and crowded at weekends and summer but quieter in the week/winter. Mt Martha is lovely, Mt ELiza, and round Arthur's Seat are nice areas, with beautiful scenery and views. I'm afraid I don't know about schools, however.
I've been to Geelong quite a few times and if I had a choice I'd live on the Mornington Pen rather than Geelong...but that's personal preference and not to say that Geelong isn't a nice place to be (and having never lived there, i can't make fair comment either!). As Bix said, there are a few people on here who are living in Geelong. Hopefully they can help you.
Good luck
