Default Where to live and schools

Can anyone let me know what areas they would rec living in and how much a 4 bed house would typically cost.

Also, I have 2 children 4 and 7, where are the decent schools. Is it true that you need to go private?

Thanks

We are moving out in June.

Ahhh..soory..i am in worng part of Oz to be able ot help, but i am sure there'll be plenty of others here that can help. You might have to wait a while as its bedtime here in Oz, unless theres some more night owls around

LOL..questions questions!!

Time here is 11.50pm, but i am in Aldelaide which has different tme zone to East side or Perth out west.

i have only been in Oz since November and came here form NZ. I am a pom though who married a kiwi and left London just over 2yrs ago

I love it here so far. Best move i ever made. But, if you hang around here a while you will soon get the downside to. We have many resident whingers here. Just try to remember, what works for one might not work for anohter, and its always best to go see for yourself to make your own mind up on things.
There is also a marked idfference on lifestyle depending on what part of Oz you go to. Just like UK. Living in London is vastly different from stoke on Trent or the scottish highlands...same applies here.

For a 4 bed house in Sydney in an area I would want to live in you are talking minimum $800,000. Cheaper and bigger is available in the west stuf but my body does not like slow roasting.

Try www.realestate.com.au .

For a 4 bed house (lets just stick to the ones you could live in)

Eastern Suburbs/Northern Beaches/HArbour foreshore - $1.5m and up

Inner West - around $1m

South West (Campbelltown, MacArthur etc) about $500,000

West - can range from $300,000 to $1m, but typically the lower end

Blue Mountains - around $500,000

Sutherland/South $600,000 - $1m

If you're looking for affordable 4 bedders a bit further afield look at Berowra/Hornsby in the North, or even further to Gosford and the Central Coast.

To the South look at some of the 'bush' areas in the upper Illawarra like Helensburgh, or beach areas like Thirroul, Bulli.

Schools - thats a big and broad question. I don't have school agers yet and can only really comment on the places I've seen in the East, so hardly a subjective survey.
