Where to live? I need a change.
Hi everyone,
I am new and thought it would be great to get a few opinions on great places to live. We have become jaded Sydneysider and the idea of simplifying life and moving somewhere to the country for a few years has become increasingly attractive!
We have been considering places like Southern Highlands NSW, Byron Bay hinterland NSW and the Barossa Valley in SA. However, I am not sure our budget, which is capped at around $800,000, will really stretch very far in these places. I don't want to have to take out a mortgage because the whole idea of this move is to live a nice stress-free life in the countryside!
I am a real estate agent and therefore I need to live somewhere with a fairly good property market (for a regional area). I know it won't be comparitive to the Northern Beaches area where I work now but somewhere that I still have the potential to make enough money to buy groceries adn pay the electricity bill
We are permanent resident's so don't have any Visa worries, late 20's, no children so things like schools aren't a worry for a few years, we don't really want to be in an area that is completely red-neck and bogan, I have horses so need to have a few acres of cleared farmland with adequate rainfall.
My ideal places is on a farm in the Southern highlands but I think I am priced out of the market, even with firm negotiations so I'm in need of ideas!!
Thanks.

That is what scares me about some parts of Queensland. The metallic handbag and fake boob types. Maybe I'm stereotyping - I hope so.
