Prob. Been done to death but, If you could choose one place in oz with the most even temperatures all year round or even a good not too hot summer ( above 35c) and not too cold in winter ( below 5c) where would you recommend?

The place with the most even temperature summer and winter in Australia is on the east coast of Tasmania.

It wouldn't be Adelaide.

NSW North Coast supposedly has the best climate in Australa.
I live at the southern end of that and would definitely agree.
Winters are not cold (but the houses are ) and summers are lovely.

Yes I was surprised to find that houses, even new ones, on the NSW north coast, had neither heating nor air conditioning.

This would either be an omission by builders looking to save money or a recognition that they need neither.

Sydney and surrounds isn't bad, if you are looking for a city rather than a small town. Try to stay on the coastal side, as the west can get pretty hot.

Perth has a good climate. We can get above 35, but not often. It might have a few nights mid winter below 5c.

I expect most places in Australia will experience over 35c in summer and I expect dipping below 5c wouldn't be something that happens a lot. So I don't think this range is really going to narrow it down too much for you. If you want mild weather though, then Europe is possibly a bit better, Australia has a harsh climate.

Australia does have European climates, just not in the capital cities. Although Canberra has colder year round minimums than London and Paris though with warmer summers.

Towns at elevation i.e. Oberon has an almost identical year round climate to London though with more snowfall.

For comfortable predictable year round weather a coastal southern NSW town e.g Batemans Bay, or an elevated northern NSW / Southern QLD town such as Toowoomba would be the best bet.

One possible way to check this out is to determine the heating/cooling degree days for the location of interest.

http://www.degreedays.net

Stick in the location and 20C as the base and see how much heating/cooling is needed for that location.

You can get a similar effect on a map from BOM with 18C and 24C

http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/ncc/climat...uct=hdd18#maps

Northern NSW tends to be the answer, but then you have to factor in the thunderstorms ....

I'm about 10 mins from the NSW border and the climate is damn near perfect imo. Days over 35 this last summer totalled about 3, never gets below 8 degrees at night in winter, humidity nowhere near as high as the top of the Goldie or Brissie. However we do need the wood burner going in the evenings in winter and did use the air con once in January. Could be a downer for some.

Nobody can tell you were the best weather is as it is different for everyone. For me mid 20's is ideal with cool nights. Winters dont bother me but others hate it if it drops below 20.
