Where to go.......
Very early stages of planning right now, but currently in Canada for six years, after emigrating to her from Kent......
Do love Canada, but long winters are very much taking their toll and have no close family to speak of, so pondering move to sunnier climes.... Would probably have around $120k AUS, and need to live near somewhere that supports environmental engineering. Will have four kids age ranges 8 to 0 (expecting in July) Husband would probably qualify under new points system if he took IELTS... I know this is pretty vague and i have tried using the search engine lots, but any advice about areas, house prices, education would be very welcomed. University education here in Canada will probably cost us at least $25k per year per child.....is this comparable to Aus? Which cities have more reasonable house prices (could be hour away from work), I would love to live in a kid friendly neighbourhood... Would be really grateful for any general advice you can give me Thanks!! |
Re: Where to go.......
Can't really help with most of your questions but I'll answer what I can so you get bumped up.
Uni costs (assuming your children have PR) for commonwealth-supported places are around $4-9k per year. It's dependant on the course - maths and science are currently cheapest, law, medicine and the like are the most expensive. So considerably cheaper than $25k. Cheapest house prices are out of the capital cities and in the country areas. Adelaide seems to have quite reasonable prices compared to where I am, as does Tasmania.:) |
Re: Where to go.......
Concentrate on where the environmental engineering jobs are, have a look here: http://content.mycareer.com.au/salar...al-engineering
Once you have an idea about jobs, especially that there's more than one potential employer in a city, you will able to think about which state and then get down to all those nitty gritty questions about which suburb, school, etc. |
