Default Where do NZ'ers go on holiday abroad

My mother in law heard from somewhere that most NZ'ers go to Japan for the holidays, is true?

never really heard that before.... lots of japanese holiday in NZ though.

Japan is quite a long way from NZ, and is a very expensive country to visit on NZ$$$

I'd say most popular destinations outside NZ (and lots of people holiday in NZ before going elsewhere) would be Australia (Gold Coast especially), Fiji, Rarotonga (and numerous other Pacific Islands), and then further afield people look to Bali, Singapore, Thailand, or west coast USA. It's worth remembering Singapore is 11 hours from NZ, so although it looks geographically close, it is not at all.

Default re holidays

Hi

From my experience most go to the Gold Coast in Australia mainly Surfers Paradise especially youngsters or families, or else the the Pacific Islands. Fiji seems to be a very popular destination.

cheers
