Am starting to get a bit fed up furniture shopping, but it needs to be right otherwise i will end up putting it on Gumtree for sale in a few weeks time.
So, where is the place to go??????/
I dont like the Bali type dark wood...I dont like the mass produced Amart stuff......ikea seems really expensive.....
Any suggestions

We've bought quite a bit of stuff from Sirene in Mundaring:

They are Danish people and have good quality furniture.

Being on a budget and a fundmental cheap skate we have furnished out ENTIRE house from Gumtree.... Would rather have preloved quality than expensive shite...
We have 4 kids, 2 dogs and 3 cats ... So we're NOT the kind of family who buys new stuff... It wouldnt be a week later

I fully understand about the furniture, also applies to fabrics for curtains, cushions, pictures, house decorating things, etc. I can find exactly what I want if I look in a British homes magazine (I occasionally buy one to torture myself). I haven't found anywhere yet in Perth where I like the furniture. Hate that dark Bali stuff as well. Anyone want to share the cost of a container of furniture from the UK?

I don't think there's any one place where you can find everything you want. Freedom used to be a mini-Habitat when we first arrived, but it has changed over the years (mind you, I don't know if Habitat still exists).
There's plenty of good furniture out there, it just has to be searched for. Everyone's taste is different, I could recommend places I like where you might think the stuff they sell is cr*p. I've bought some nice things at Amart, but most of their stuff is horrible.

This list I did a while ago may help with the shopping.
Many of the local stores are Qld based but other states would have equivalents ....click on link to go to store website...if they ask for a postcode for store pricing just put in 4000 for brisbane cbd or your equivalent. Note there is also a bunch of online only stores that compete with these bricks and mortar stores and you can play one against the other sometimes. Also note that haggling is expected so the list price is rarely what people pay especially in appliances.

Depending on your budget -I have found getting custom made furniture is cheaper (and a LOT cheaper than high end Hardly Normal stuff ).
There are a few in Osborne Park (Urban Wood -very good ) they always (almost always )have sale items that someone has reneged on .Also the Jarrah Furniture builders are everywhere -just google.

Have a look around Wangara, near the Wanneroo markets - some good places for one off stuff there.
