Thanks for all the info' guys, will start to have a look at websites and start pricing things up, on a similar vein what sort of discount should we be aiming to get off the displayed price of a nearly new (ex demo) car, looking to get a new shape fiesta.

As people have said the best deals come from buying most of your items (fridge TV etc) from one shop. Getting used to hagging in a shop like our Dixons or Currys seems odd but it is worth it. Also in Oz if they say a discount is for 'cash' you can still pay the same with your credit card. You could also try Crazy Clarks for basic electrical goods like toasters, microwave and kettles rather like the Tesco value range. Just to add that also at Ikea in virtually the same complex is the Home Centre, with loads of home furnishing stores. |

thanks Jon They haggeled for about 10 minutes with the sales rep, who then had a 'word' with the manager, still no deal, so they pulled out the bankers draft made out to the garage and said they wanted to buy today. When we went out to stay in August we shared a new Mazda 2. When we go out to live in Oz they can buy our first car.:fingerscrossed: |

For toaster and kettle, we got brushed steel ones from Aldi of all places for $10 each. They look really good compared to the cheap ones I saw in Woolies/Harvey Norman/Big W.
KMart have some good package boxes of crockery/pots and pans/glassware just now. Though we got all our stuff from from Ikea to last us until our container arrives. Got a 6-place table setting of crockery there for $19.99 On the car thing, we bought a Golf GTI second hand and got $1000 off the price plus 3 years extended warranty and 3 years roadside assistance included on top too (they had initially wanted another $1000 for that) |
