Question Where Are All The Jobs?

Hi All,

Been reading quite alot of threads that people are saying they cant find jobs when they get to Australia finding this very scary! whats the point of giving every thing up in the UK to be struggling for money and spending all the savings you have?

My other half is an Electrician could any one tell us if we are likely to have problems also does anyone know where this trade is in demand?

We just cant decide where we want to live but a good chance of getting a job is a good starting point!

Thanks for any advice

Julie & Kev

In Wednesday/Saturdays papers here in South Australia there are usually around 12 -14 jobs advertised, it's been that way since we arrived 9 months ago, in fact some of the jobs have been in there for months!

The only hard part about getting a sparkies job here is the licencing bit, once you've got that sorted you should be able to walk straight into a job. My OH did within 24 hours of getting his licence, he also had calls from other people for about 3 weeks after he started work.

we need more geordie sparkies. no where near enough of us. one mob in cairns wanted 15 sparks a couple of weeks ago. atleast 10 jobs in the paper every week. dont worry about the licence. you can get work without it. you can obtain a temp permit until you get the licence. well, QLD anyway.
