When you landed in Brisbane..........
How easy was it to get a rental ?
Be coming over mid December early January and would like to settle in the North Lakes area.
Can anyone help with a few questions please ?
Did you stay in a motel first and if so have you got any recommendations ?
Has anyone transfered a NZ driving licence to an Oz one, if you've just passed your test in NZ can you transfer it or is there a waiting period.
If the Mrs can't transfer her NZ licence she'd have to walk everywhere so is Northlakes or surrounding area a good option ?
How easy is it to get a 5 year old in to school and which are the good ones, has anyone got any links ?
I can't wait but its starting all over again, this will be the 3rd move in 3 years
Hope someone can help

If you are a New Zealand licence holder, you are not required to undertake a practical driving test if you have a current New Zealand provisional or open licence within the last five years for the same class applied for.

we stayed at a place we found on www.seqrents.com.au , these are more for furnished short term places than the main rental site which is www.realestate.com.au which is for normal rentals houses etc.
500$/week for 2 bedroom fully furnished modern appartment in city with shared pool i think we paid.

We went straight into a long term rental at Big 4 in Aspley. As we don't have any kids we took one of the older cabins at $210 a week plus bills, this went down to $174 after 28 days. They do have nicer cabins which we later found out were cheaper. It is good for a stop gap as it has a pool etc. Good luck. The school at North Lakes is lovely by the way, I did some supply teaching there before moving to Bundy.
Regards

Turn up - pay a deposit (1 weeks rent) we may have paid 2 weeks in advance as well.
manhattan at newstead and the same company manages a place in Clayfield they are well known on here. I prefer the Clayfield one - the mgr John is nice guy. Clayfield apt seemed bigger with nicer gardens , manhattan is a bit cramped if you got kids.
Also - Mrs Dagboy has a place they rent out - send her A PM , lots on here have stayed there too.

Hubby and I are from St. Helens, currently 3.5 months into visa application. Hoping to be in Brisbane area by end of next year if we like it when we go on our validation trip.
