OK, so is it a big con by the Sydney tourist board that the weather is nice?..It must have rained now every day for the last month and the final straw – rain now forecast for Christmas day.

Since we arrived in September, we had good weather in October but November and December have been pretty awful. Its been like its going in to winter instead of summer.

Will it ever get sunny…?

Or is it me bringing it with me…..When I went to Death Valley California (the hottest place in the northern hemisphere) it rained.

I was just saying to someone the other day.......that anyone who had arrived in Sydney this year must be getting a really bad impression of summer in Australia.

I've been here for 5 Xmas's now and this is the wettest ever!

Hi

Sounds like at the moment it's better to be in Melbourne!

Weathers been good down here although had a lot of heavy rain last night -but that's okay if at night!

Hope it stops raining soon for you guys up there!

Well the farmers are happy

I think the weather this year is more normal (up in SEQ anyway) just most expats who have moved here over the last few years have only seen drought conditions.

Some might be in for a shock when the full humid summer hits

This is my 29th Christmas here in Sydney and whilst this grey weather is unusual, I have seen it before.

Christmas 1981 was a cold, grey day. Christmas 1994 had gale force winds and driving rain. Christmas 2007 looks like it will also be cool, grey and rainy.

Can't really complain about grey weather once every 13 years. It's supposed to be nice next month .

8 weeks or so too late for most of the cereal crops, but good for the land in general.

I think I'm going to be up there for about a week from about the 10th Jan so the weather should be fine then.

Well if it makes you feel any better, the weather in London today had a nice crisp 'feels like' temp of about -3 this morning - didn't feel much warmer this afternoon.
Although having said that the sun has been shining an unusual amount this winter I personally think the sun has been out more in the past month than it was ALL summer! And the naysayers say global warming is a myth!

Well I shall cross my fingers you get some decent sun on Xmas day if you can hope that I get a white Xmas (it's our last in the colder climes) here in England

27 and sunny for xmas in Melly

I think its a fair misconception, but Sydney always gets more rain than Melly, AND London
Every day for a month is pretty bad. We were there every new years for 3 years and it was always stinkin if thats any consulation

Not in WA they're not, complaining cos the rain has come too late or something.

Apparently Perth is going to be the warmest major centre on Xmas Day - 38 - so looks like summer is only a couple of days away

Hi

El Nino has legged it............. La Nina is now getting established ie back to the "old" Sydney summers - wetter, warmer and certainly more humid.
