When does it sink in?

We've got everything booked.

Sorted our stuff and shippers come tomorrow.

Just spent my last night in our house.

But it STILL hasnt sunk in yet that we're actually going.

I know I will regret asking this but, am I normal?

Allow me to be the first to say you are not normal !!:D:D:D

I did something similar a few years ago - i.e moving to another country, i can honestly say 'it never sank in' it just felt normal - the right thing to do!!

So either we are both not normal - or realists !

Hi bridiej,

I would say you're absolutely 100% normal, didn't sink in for me until after 3 months living in Australia, hit me when I found I had a job to go to and had to work again, life was just a holiday until then :D

I think it sinks in about a week/ 2 weeks after you arrive, thats about the time a normal holiday ends and you start feeling odd that there is no ticket home, probably there is no longer a home  Then you start to look at OZ differently too, from a day to day angle, its no longer a dream its your life now and suddenly all the little things about OZ matter. Felt just like you describe so if your not normal nor am I :)

Good question bridiej, I'm nervous but it's yet to realy sink in. I can't believe in just over 9 weeks we'll be living on the other side of the world

Re: When does it sink in?

Never really thought about it, first off the move time was too busy to get excited, then I had a month working my notice staying with friends and was on the plane a week later. Don't think it really hit home till I got a job at the airport and was wandering off a plane a few days into the job and suddenly thought 'how weird, just been on a plane to London at an Aussie airport and I',m not going anywhere', my workmates then wanted to know why I had such a big smug grin on my face for the rest of the day hehe.

It sunk in when we flew over Perth city coming into land. Lovely sight I have to say.

Wow asked where you were up to on another thread now I can see crikey I didnt realise you were so close, its turned around so quick hasnt it.

Obviously cant answer your question, only that we were sat watching a realestate programme on Australia the other night and we both looked at each other and said 'does it feel like your actually going to live there?' and the answer was no.

anyhoo just want to wish you all the luck in the world B :D

I know what you mean.....although my move is further away, my shippers come on the 30th and then i move into my mums :o and for the last week i feel as though i have slipped into some kind of trance where i cant feel anything.
s'pose its just a coping mechanism as to feel it all may be a bit too overwhelming. Anyway, very best of luck Bridie ;)

That's exactly how I feel, it's as if you're acting it out but not feeling anything.....
