Question When to book flights

Been worry about when to book flights -amongst a million other things. Going to Hervey Bay/Maryborough on a 457. The co have appointed a migration expert to sort the visa. We've just sent everything off and await some feedback.

Should we wait to book flights til we have the visa? Doesn't that mean paying top wack for last minute flights? Or is that still cheaper than paying for flexible tickets?

Whatever you do, don't book your flights until you have your Visa's. There's just no need to book first. Your Visa will come when it is ready, no date will be given.

Unhappy Worried re flights

Been looking at flight prices and am now really worried. It's ok if you can book 6-8 weeks in advance but our employer will want us out there as soon as possible after the visa grant (457). If you try and book with only a week or two notice the prices seem astronomicaL IF THEY ARE EVEN AVAILABLE. How do you get round this ?

No sure where you're looking for flights. If you look on the website for Singapore Airlines, there are plenty of flights available at short notice and the prices are *not* astronomical.

At Christmas time, it'll be difficult to get flights at short notice and the prices go up then as well.

I've tried that. For instance I can't find flights for the family until at least 20 Oct (looking from tomorrow onwards!) and they aren't the cheapest - but admittedly not the most expensive either.

We'll need 5 seats. Anyone got any ideas how to handle a departure within a week or so of getting visa?

We are like you and waiting for our visa. We have not booked flights yet but I am keeping an eye on prices. I have found emirates a really good deal at one weeks notice.

Good luck
