Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can let me know if your visa is almost certain for being granted once DIMIA ask for sponsor to go for interview? Just looking for rough timescale for putting house up for sale at this stage?

In our case it was about 2 weeks from sponsor interview to visas being granted.

Hi all, this thread has raised a question for me, do all sponsors get interviewed? or do they just pick certain ones at random? I dont have a problem with this, i am just curious.

Many thanks.

Nev.

as far as i know nev, all sponsors go for an interview. they have to take relevant paperwork, like pay slips etc to prove their income.

To clarify for those who are confused I think that they are talking about the AOS which in a lot of cases is also the sponsor but not always. Sponsors don't have to have an interview its the AOS who does.

What is the interview? Is it on the phone? At a local DIMIA office?

What is it like? Is it a grilling? What do they want to know?

They have to make an appointment with centrelink to prove they are an Australian citizen and also prove their income. Then your assurer has to go to the Commonwealth bank and open an account ( cost $150. just to open it ) and lodge the bond ($5000 for a couple ). Then...its back to centrelink to prove the bond has been lodged, then centrelink forward the info to DIMIA.Rough time scale, that we were told to expect, from asking for first interview to DIMIA being contacted by centrelink...6-8 weeks.

Permanent residents and eligible New Zealand citizens may also act as assurer.
