Default what's west of brisbane?

looking to move to brissie in the new year. as now realistic view of income and expenditure has been gained, where in the west side is good value in terms of a reasonable area with a reasonable price? will be working in rocklea, don't mind a 30 minute commute as long as its not through the city, and much prefer a ruralish area. think my budget will be under 300k. big ask, i know, but some b.e.'s must live in the sticks

You might be able to do it if you move to the ipswich area, but it's not got a great rep.

The western suburbs are generally expensive, think you'll struggle on that budget. What are you going to be doing in Rocklea?

It also gets hot if you go far enough West ... Ipwich was at 40 degrees a couple of days ago compared with 35 in the city.

Jesus, in Rocklea you'll be fabricating stainless steel stab vests - it's not the nicest area around

South-west Brisbane is pretty bad in general, with Inala being the mouth of hell. Oxley was where Pauline Hanson rose to power. Try a bit further north, around Kenmore area - much better.

No idea, I now live in the UK! I would have thought that you'd be OK with that though. Don't spend too much on a car if it's going to be parked in Rocklea all day.

Do a search on realestate.com.au and you can see pictures and maps etc of the houses in your price range. Might be an idea to rent for a while first though if there are some dodgy areas around where you might end up!
