what are you gonna do?
just wondered what everyone else with visa's already are going to do about the new skill assessments starting sept 1st?
do we do the whole assessment thing again here so hubby gets his certificate 3 in bricklaying or is is cheaper when you're out there? ( i'm pretty sure it wont be easier!)

If you already have your skills assessment and your visa then you don't need to get another one from Vetassess. The vetassess assessment is for visa application only.
It does give you a certificate to say you can have a provisional licence for your trade, but you will still have to do all the licencing courses that are required for your trade when you get here to be able to apply for a full licence.

can you not do the assessment then if already got visa? the assessment for bricklayers will give hubby a certificate so all he needs to do is apply for his licence over there, no courses. i'm it doesnt take alot!

The assessment is for migration purposes, so the only thing it will get you is a huge bill
Your OH would still need to do a contractors course if he wants to work for himself, he'll also have to do the blue card (or whatever colour it is in the state you're going to) etc.
The certificate that people will get from Vetassess will only entitle you to a 'provisional' licence, to get a full licence you will still have to do an Australian course.
It really isn't worth it
