Would have thought twigs would be a problem, but I'm sure Pollyanna will know.

The house is like a bomb site at the moment as we have the entire loft contents spilling out everywhere, while sorting out, we must have 500 soft toys-any takers??!!
No - sorry - still too busy trying to do something with the mountain of soft toys *we* brought. But I seriously don't regret bringing them and would make the same decision again. We felt it was better to bring them and chuck them out when we got here rather than bin them in the UK and regret doing so.

Good luck!

Sue

For us a new life , new furniture,
I did not find the furniture too expensive , bought from Harvey Norman, and went to Macro for most of the bedding, towels, pots and pans.
As we have gone along, i have bought more in Sales, at Sheridens [good quality].
We had most our bedroom furnitue fitted in Uk . I did not want to bring beds, Oue bed we left for our kids back home.
We sold some furniture, had car boots.
Im glad we did not bring electrical good, as i here stories about them not working . my friend brought her washer, she has to send back to UK for parts.
We are building a new house , and i have seen so many times , furniture just not looking right in the new house, but they hang on to it , because it cost a fortune to bring over.
It really is a personal choice. I have no regrets what so ever. Denise
by the way it cost us 350 pound to bring 5 t chest.

Did someone call? Twigs? Don't even think about it, AQIS will have them off you as fast as you can say "wood" treated wood, furniture etc is fine, but not the raw material.

My hubby has motorbike gear and dont know whether to sell here and buy new when we get there??
We aren't getting a container as the furniture had been sold with the house so we are paying for a part of one, just for our bits and pieces.

One the one hand I think take everything on the other hand I think c'mon save the shipping cost, am I ever going to need all this stuff!! Why cart it around the world.

Just interested in what others took...

While on the subject of taking things to Australia, can I take food items as long as sealed?? I am thinking galaxy bars

Thanks for your thoughts, Donna x
Im currently debating what to do with my bike gear...wasnt sure whether to bring my lid...was contemplating the leathers as well but as they have been on their own special little holiday down the road am not sure whether to buy new breathable type ones.

One thing I didn't think of was the size of bedding/bed linen. Brought all our duvet covers but not the duvets themselves as they were too bulky and we thought 'we'll just get new ones'. Well they are longer here so nothing fits. Either leave the lot and start again (but it's expensive for decent stuff) or bring lots of different tog duvets.

I am moving on 4th Feb. Renting out our flat at the moment, furnished. Personal items going into storage in my dads loft.

Flying BA premium economy London-Sydney-20kg allowance. I am taking some clothes, 1 laptop computer and a camera. I am starting again. Going to buy furniture etc over there when we buy a new place.

I have enjoyed the process of decluttering my life. I cannot believe how much stuff I had collected over the years that I did not need.

Did this with all the kids cuddly toys too. also put our fotos etc in vacuum bags saved them getting damp. All your old cards and books etc....if they mean a lot to u then bring them its not that expensive....the thing that u need to remember the most expsive part of shipping is the insurance, but things like fotos amd memories u cant replace so no need to insure

Ah. This reminds me. I read a thread some time ago about someone who also vac packed loads of stuff to put in their suitcases, which, when the customs opened it up to check them , left all the contents half stuffed in, half out and caused chaos. :scared: Saying that, I am going to use them, for clothes ( not taking duvets) and my precious tempur type mattress topper, but to go in my tchests.
