Re: what are the steps ?

The first step is to have a good read of the appropriate migration booklet which is on www.immi.gov.au
Then come back and ask specific questions you'll probably get a better response or do a search top right hand corner on here and the immigration forum.

Good Luck

1. Decide whether you really want to go to Oz

2. Get all documents together and certified

3. Get skills assessed

4. Send off aplication form and skills assessment with money

5. Wait

6. Get medicals and police checks done on request from DIMIA

7. Wait

8. Get Visa

9. Rejoice

10. Post a "We got it!" thread

11. Get pissed!

Good Luck!:)

We're just sorting out the last document before we send off the application form, hopefully this week. Busy sorting the house out at the mo. Still high on the paint fumes from last night. :) Congrats on the visa - when are you off?

what are the procedures involved in the skill accesment thing

I come under the TRA.

Is anyone in here who sent the skill accesment to TRA

Hi if you go to:

www.workplace.gov.au

The above site provides information regarding assessment, cost and where to post etc. You cant go wrong as long as you read it over quite a few times and highlight the most important points - seemed to work for me.

regards

atticus

Hi atticus,

Thanks for the reply.

Can you tell what are the things you submitted to them.

I am self employed and own my own workshop.

I got your email and I sent you a reply but it seems to have gone awol - as Ive said you need to start at the website I have given - all the info as to documentation for being self employed is listed.

as for us well we provided what they asked of us

1, Statutory declaration detailing work history starting with apprenticeship all the way to present situation - informing in great detail what each job entailed and tools used
2. Letters from two suppliers (they ask for three but we only use 2 but we explained that in the covering letter and they were fine)
3. Letters from clients - which is a mix of what we do for them/character reference
4. Letter from accountant and copies of all accounts
5. Letter from bank
6. Copy of business card and some invoices
7. Applied recently for state registered hairdresser so supplied letter of reference received from Hairdressing Council along with certified copy of certificate and paperwork used to get the SRH in the first place

Took two photocopies of all the above and had both certified - 1 for tra and kept 1 for dimia as although they both want copies they must be certified - not copies of certified copies if you get my drift.

Anyway must go as lots of work to do.

If you search "TRA on this and the immigration site you should find alot of answers to your questions but you must read the application form and the supplementary info that goes with it. We like I said just kept reading over and over till it started to sink in and highlighted all relevent points - whatever helps!

All the best

atticus
