What paperwork to take?

Hi - apologies if this has been asked before - done a quick search and couldn't find anything.

The shippers are coming on Tuesday and we are flying out on Oct 20th. We've sussed out everything else we are packing/binning etc but don't know what to do with the mountains of files and general paperwork we've accumulated over the years.

Is there a general list/guide to what paperwork/bank stuff/bills etc would be useful for when we get to Oz. We figured on taking six months bank statements and maybe a few utility bills but haven't a clue what else.

We plan to rent for a year or so before buying a house. We don't have any rental references as we've never rented before - would some bills be useful instead?.

Can anyone advise?

Many thanks
Rachel

Bring mortgage statements with you, showing you have paid mortgage regularly.
Other than that our real estate wasnt interested in anything from UK -- eg. gas/elec bills.
The only thing they wanted was proof of DH's job and his income.
We bought a years' worth of UK paperwork with us (bank statements, bills etc.) but most of it is all still in the box. (The only stuff I have ever needed was papers to prove that yet again the Child Tax Credit people had cocked up -- but that's another story!!! :)

The other thing we needed on our 457 visa was our NHS cards. (Not applicable if you're coming as PR as you get medicare anyway.)

Twelve months' bank statements and utilities. Rates demands.

The paper bit of the driving licence.

Insurance renewal notices - and get a letter from your car insurer saying you have X years no claims. ( unless they no longer want to know you <g>).

Medical records.

(Obviously) all records like birth certificates, marriage, divorce etc.
