Its an orbweaver, and its not dangerous. They don't tend to bite, and if they did it would hurt a bit and you might feel ill for a few hours, but it would pass.

That's hilarious :-)

After 5 years here I contrast our new definitions of 'safe' against what we grew up with in UK - the worst they do is scare the crap out of you, now we classify spiders as "harmless" because you'll only feel sick for just a few hours....vs the ones that will hospitalise you.

I love the original names that some spiders have over here. We described a spider to our rellies (big eco/animal carer people by profession) "it sat in the middle of the web inside a curled up leaf" - this is known as a leaf-curl spider!
